abstract = "This study investigated the influence of the shadow component in
images taken at different times with solar elevation angles, one
in August 2000 and another in March 2001. To this end, were used
                         bands 3, 4 and 5 of Landsat7 ETM+, obtained from Vi{\c{c}}osa,
MG. First was applied the Linear Spectral Mixing Model in the
original images, in order to compare the fraction-image generated
component with respect to shade, where it was found that the image
obtained in August (the period with lower solar elevation angle)
had a higher contribution of the component's shadow to take Later
in March. Subsequently, was used the topographic correction
technique proposed by Smith (1980) in the original images in order
to make an improvement in lighting and a reduction in the
differential shading and applied the Linear Mixing Model in order
to estimate the shadow component in the corrected images and
compare the images generated with the-fraction-fraction images
from real data from 2000 and 2001. It was found that the shadow
component exerts a strong influence on images taken from different
periods and that the use of Topographic Correction technique
minimized the effects of shading, so the image taken in March, as
                         that taken in August.",
